Invitation to submit to special issues of the Journal of Neuromuscular Diseases

The Journal of Neuromuscular Diseases has two exciting special issues that are open for submission of NMD research papers. One is a special issue dedicated to sharing unexpected or ‘negative’ data, and the other is a celebration of Prof. Terence Partridge’s career in the field of myogenesis and skeletal muscle diseases.  Details are provided below and more information can be found on the journal website accessible here. We welcome all submissions for these special issues, as well as other research with a neuromuscular theme.

As a further new outreach strategy, the journal is also inviting authors to share the story behind their research in the form of videos or animations that will be publicised via social media. We look forward to seeing the results of this project!

*Hanns is joint editor-in-chief of the Journal of Neuromuscular Diseases, together with Carsten Bönnemann of the NIH National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.

JND Call for Papers #1: The Null Hypothesis Special Issue

Special issue dedicated to studies where the results do not support the intervention tested and yet generate very useful data for the field. Testing if a hypotheses is correct or not is the way science advances, but pressure to publish has resulted in researchers preferentially publishing studies that disprove the null hypothesis. Failure to publish studies where, for example, therapies did not have beneficial effects, not only impedes science and therapy development, it also leads to unnecessary duplication of efforts and a waste of resources.

This issue is guest edited by Annemieke Aartsma-Rus and Virginia Arechavala-Gomeza and submissions are due by March 2021.

JND Call for Papers #2: Terence Partridge Special Issue

This issue will celebrate the distinguished career of Prof. Terence Partridge, with submissions forming a tribute to his significant contributions to the field of muscle biology through his own discoveries and production of exceptional trainees. If you have been affiliated with Prof. Partridge and would like to participate in this special issue, check out the information on the JND website and contact the guest editors via the editorial office.

This issue is guest edited by Jyoti Jaiswal and Kanneboyina Nagaraju and the publication date will be summer 2021.
