Celebrating Our Lab Members’ Recent Research Awards

Kelly Ho Receives First Place Poster Award at ASPET Annual Meeting

We are proud to share that Kelly Ho received first place for her poster presentation “Drug Repurposing of Olodaterol, Formoterol, Indacaterol, and Forskolin for Congenital Myasthenic Syndromes” in the Division for Translational and Preclinical Pharmacology at this year’s American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) annual meeting. Congratulations to Kelly for her success venturing into the pharmacology field at her first ASPET meeting!

Katerina Palacek Awarded MSSRP Scholarship for Second Year

Congratulations to Katerina Palacek, who has been awarded the Medical Student Summer Research Program (MSSRP) scholarship by the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine for her project “ATP8A2 as a novel neuromuscular disease gene”. This marks her second consecutive year receiving this summer studentship. We look forward to welcoming Katerina back to the lab to continue her work using optogenetic zebrafish models to identify novel genes associated with congenital myasthenic syndromes.

Josh Zeldin Receives Dr. Peter Humphreys Summer Studentship

We’re excited to announce that Josh Zeldin has received the Dr. Peter Humphreys Summer Studentship from the CHEO Research Institute for his project titled Developing an In-Silico Workflow to Understand the Effects of Splice-Altering Variants Associated with Rare Neuromuscular and Neurodevelopmental Diseases on RNA and Protein Expression.” This summer, Josh will focus on improving and standardizing the in-silico workflow that he helped to develop previously in the lab.
