Ioana joined Dr. McMillan and Dr. Lochmüller clinical research group in September 2026, as a Clinical Research Coordinator. Ioana is a clinical research professional who specializes in the rigorous coordination, execution, and management of complex clinical trials. She has extensive research experience in both academic investigator-initiated and multi-center, industry-sponsored clinical trials.
Prior to joining the team, she coordinated adult neurosurgical trials at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and pediatric neurological and anesthesia trials at the CHEO Research Institute. Ioana holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from “Iuliu Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Romania, a Master of Science in Epidemiology degree from the University of Ottawa, and a certification from the Clinical Research Associate Program at The Michener Institute in Toronto.
Ioana is interested in research on early detection and innovative therapies development in pediatric neurological rare diseases.
