Dr. Andreas Roos wins Emerging Myologist of the Year Prize at WMS 2023
We are excited to congratulate Dr. Andreas Roos on winning the World Muscle Society’s (WMS) President’s Prize for Emerging Myologist of the Year!
This award (formerly the President’s Prize for Young Myologist of the Year) recognizes outstanding contributions and innovation from an up-and-coming researcher in the field of myology. This year’s award highlights Dr. Roos’s exceptional portfolio of recent work, commending in particular his presentation at the conference on the identification of FILIP1 variants as a novel genetic cause for a neuropediatric disease with muscle involvement. Dr. Roos’s prolific output has resulted in a career total of almost 150 publications to date, and the FILIP1 manuscript is the latest of over 50 that Dr. Roos has published together with our group.
Dr. Roos is based at the Department of Neuropaediatrics of the Universitätsklinikum Essen in Germany and holds an adjunct professorship at uOttawa. He has been a long-time collaborator with our lab on joint projects on myotonic dystrophy, GNE myopathy, gene discovery and proteomic profiling in neuromuscular disease and has also consistently been involved in international research collaborations spanning a variety of diseases and techniques.
