Hanns was originally recruited to The University of Ottawa from Europe through the CRC program and has since built an internationally recognized research program focused on rare neuromuscular diseases. With this renewed appointment, his team will continue advancing research in molecular therapies for neuromuscular disorders, genomic approaches to diagnostics and gene discovery, and clinical research and care for patients living with rare neuromuscular disorders.
“I am very grateful for the continued trust and support of the Canadian government and the scientific community. This renewed award enables us to advance our research program in partnership with our hospitals in Ottawa, as well as nationally through NMD4C and MDC.”
